Computers have become an essential requirement in our day-to-day lives. We use computers in schools, in offices, at homes, in business establishments and even in the hospitals. Thanks to the advancement in computer technology, the configuration of the computers is changing almost everyday. So if you are deciding to buy a new computer at a cost effective price, what is the best option? Should you plan to assemble it yourself or should you buy it from a small manufacture who can offer you a good discount? Getting a computer from a small manufacturer, which has been custom made as per your specifications, can be risky. Though you may have been tempted by the prices that these operators would offer, there is no guarantee that these machines will work after you receive them. And though these may come with warranties, it can be a painful task to get these manufactures to replace your machine in case there is a problem. I know of a friend who chose to purchase his computer from a small manufacturer and he could not even start it after it was installed! And not surprisingly, there was no response from the manufacturer to all his frantic calls asking for a replacement. It was only after he threatened to cancel the payment did they turn around and offer him a replacement. So, is there another cost-effective option?

The other available option is to assemble your own computer. This is a cheap way of owning a computer that comes with the latest features and is also light on your purse. However, it is important to note that one should not try and cut corners in an attempt to save on the cost. One should use the genuine parts that can guarantee an optimal performance and save you from the hassle of replacing the parts on a regular basis. The key is to buy all the components from a genuine dealer and not use the recycled parts, even if they come with warranties. As the saying goes, do the right thing the first time! And if you feel intimidated with the assembling techniques, there are a lot of self help guides that can make you an expert at the process of assembling a new computer. And the added advantage of assembling your own computer is that you would be able to do most of the troubleshooting all by yourself and this would save you precious dollars you would have otherwise spent on hiring the services of an engineer!
